In his younger years, Brian was a competitive powerlifter. At only 19 years old, weighing in at 200 lbs, he achieved a 500 lb bench press. Unfortunately, a major pec tear ended Brian’s powerlifting career. Then, in 2002, he was introduced to bjj. He started training at a renowned bjj school in North Jersey called Performance Jiu-Jitsu. In 2005, Brian seized an opportunity and founded Advanced Martial Arts. After eight years of training at the North Jersey school, while balancing family responsibilities, the one and a half hour commute became increasingly demanding. In 2011, Brian transitioned to training under coach Kurt Pelligrino, a UFC veteran and Marcelo Garcia black belt, at Pelligrino Martial Arts. During this time, he coached numerous amateur and professional fighters, ultimately reaching the pinnacle of the sport with athletes competing in the UFC. Over the years, he has trained individuals from diverse backgrounds, including law-enforcement personnel and professional athletes. Outside of his professional endeavors, Brian enjoys spending time with his family. He also enjoys an active outdoor lifestyle, participating in activities, such as motocross, skiing, and fishing.
